Dear Members,
It has been customary for the incoming CSA-NYS
President to present a list of initiatives for the coming year. In the spirit of an integrated and shared leadership vision, I am presenting a set of Presidential and Board Priorities that advance the core goals of CSA-NYS. The priorities, grouped in two major areas, are as follows:
MEMBER NETWORKING AND OUTREACH
Communications are vital to organizations today, especially electronic communication. Member networking and outreach, and the need for perceived value from our professional Association continue to expand. To help address these issues, we will continue to enhance the website and promote membership involvement through direct contact with the board of directors. Each member will receive a personal call from a board member to discuss what initiatives are important to you. And may I mention that we will “Go Green” and put the association directory on our website rather than sending out hard copies. In addition, our newsletter will continue to be distributed electronically too. We will continue to encourage use of the listserv. The second component of this effort is to promote and engage members in a process to identify where CSA-NYS should concentrate its efforts in the next several years and pull the talented members of our association to share their expertise. Through compiling the information from our members and working through a SWOT analysis, we plan to update our strategic plan – also found online.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
The plan for this year is to enhance the professional development opportunities offered through CSANYS. The Board has voted to allocate all investment income to scholarships and grants to further the education of its members. In a time when store budgets are tight, we feel it is of utmost important to provide the ability for our members to attend the Super Regional Meeting & Buying Show and ourn 40th anniversary Fall meeting. These events enable members to meet with dozens of store representatives, volunteer their skills and engage in interactive learning. Please plan to attend, it so easy to find colleagues who share similar professional
backgrounds, interests and duties all under one roof. It promises to be an exciting year, with many new happenings, all related to the core goals of CSA-NYS and I urge you to be an active participant this year. The association can help you get connected, network with your colleagues, and provide you a platform to volunteer your talents.
Respectfully,
Vicky Brondum
